Il paper – collocandosi nel quadro teorico della sociologia della memoria e dei cultural studies – analizza le rappresentazioni culturali della violenza politica che ha caratterizzato gli anni Settanta e i primi anni Ottanta in Italia e, soprattutto, il ruolo di tali rappresentazioni rispetto ai tentativi di costruire una memoria pubblica – e condivisa – di quegli eventi.
Abstract
The paper – inserted in the theoretical framework of the sociology of memory and cultural studies ‐ analyzes the cultural representations of political violence that characterized the Seventies and early Eighties in Italy, and the role of such representations compared to attempts to build a public and shared memory of those events.
Adopting the trauma paradigm proposed by Jeffrey Alexander (2004, 2006), it will be observed how the lack of ability of the Italian society to deal with this traumatic past has favored the perpetration of «conflicting memories» (Hajek 2010) or even the determination of a sort of «defensive amnesia» (Glynn 2006) and of “removal strategies” that seem to permeate Italian cultural production.
