Il tema della città non è certo nuovo nelle riflessioni di Zygmunt Bauman. L’interesse per la metropoli e per le sue continue trasformazioni è centrale in molti dei suoi scritti. Bauman è convinto che la città sia in grado di rivelare in piccola scala la natura, la complessità e le contraddizioni dei fenomeni globali che caratterizzano la modernità liquida.
Abstract
The topic of cities is not new in the reflections of Zygmunt Bauman. The focus on the metropolis and its continuous transformations is central in many of his writings. If it is true that cities have always been considered places of rapid and increasing change, it is also true that the transformations that urban life has undergone in recent decades have no precedents in the course of history. Having taken this into consideration, the Polish sociologist highlights the complex mechanisms that make our cities and its inhabitants increasingly closed, inhospitable and unable to trust others.
